Tomorrowland – an electronic music festival that was born in Boom, Belgium in 2005 has catapulted itself into becoming one of the most prominent annual music festivals in the world.
Founded by brothers, Manu and Michiel Beers, the first Tomorrowland took place in Belgium with famous acts such as Armin van Buuren, Coone, Push (M.I.K.E) and loads more. Originally a one-day event, by the third festival in 2007, its popularity was such that the event was scheduled over 2 days and by 2008 over 100 DJs partook and more than 50 000 people attended.
In 2010, the official Tomorrowland anthem was born – “Tomorrow/ Give into the night” written by Dada Life, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike, and Tara McDonald. The following year, the festival expanded and was held over three days and still included famous DJs and bands such as David Guetta, Swedish House Mafia, Avicii, Tiësto and more.
Since its inception, its growth has been absolutely phenomenal. The event is organised by ID&T, Entertainment and Media Enterprise and currently, the Tomorrowland festival is made up of fifteen stages with over 400 DJs and attracts a massive audience from around the world. Such was the popularity that Tomorrowland partnered with Brussels airline and created elite travel packages for attendees.
Dreamville, the “vibrant city that welcomes 35,000 festival visitors after an exuberant day at Tomorrowland” is the official Tomorrowland campsite. It is unique and designed to afford you the every comfort you could possibly hope for at a luxury campsite. Its main aim is to ensure that you can handle the madness!
If you haven’t had the opportunity to attend Tomorrowland – don’t fret. There are Tomorrowland aftermovies online that gives you a tantalising taste of what you’ve missed out on … or… you can attend the TomorrowWorld festival scheduled to be held in Cape Town (supposedly) in February 2015 (yet to be confirmed).
Yes, those rumours circulating the internet and social media sites may very well be put to rest sooner than expected. South Africans are positively shaking with anticipation and the excitement (virtual and actual) is pretty palpable!
TomorrowWorld is a three day festival packed with incredible electronic music, magic and animation that will simply astound you. That’s not all though, typical to Tomorrowland fashion, TomorrowWorld has its own Dreamville, cocktail bars and gourmet food stands.
The first international TomorrowWorld festival will take place in a couple of days (27 – 29 September 2013) in Georgia, USA. Of TomorrowWorld, founders, the Beers brothers say it is “more exciting than anything we ever dreamed of when we started years ago as young music lovers and entrepreneurs.”
It is believed that Lloyd Cornwall and VWV are the ones working on a joint venture to bring TomorrowWorld to South Africa in 2015. Cornwall is known as the man who brought Ministry of Sound to South Africa and VWV is a global band experience agency that is all about creating inventive and innovative experiences and platforms. And, VWV have bought the rights to stage the event in SA. We think that’s pretty darn legit.
Pending an official statement, and if the rumours are true, TomorrowWorld will be held at the Fairview wine estate in Paarl and it is estimated that 80 000 people from South Africa and around the world will attend this major global event. Speculation is rife especially as the Paarl venue is currently undergoing some ‘landscaping’. Could this be the preparation for the proposed R100 million project?
The line-up for this year includes headliners such as David Guetta, Armin Van Buuren, Laidback Luke, Benny Benassi, R3hab, Axwell, Calvin Harris, Fedde Le Grand, Crookers, Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike, Yolanda Be Cool and so much more. If this is anything to go by, South Africans can look forward a similar line-up of the best in the business.
Information regarding ticket prices and sales have not yet been finalised but a few ideas regarding the cost have popped up on the net and it seems R1500 could be the asking price for 3 days of mania! It’ll be well worth it.
Dubbed the biggest event to hit our shores since the 2010 World Cup (absolutely!) TomorrowWorld is set to have stages blazing and the best electronic music pulsating through Cape Town in the most electrifying way… and we, like you, CANNOT wait!

What I’ve noticed about Djorion is that most of his tracks have a nice vibe throughout due to the flow that he creates and samples that he spits. His ability allows him to create a sound as smooth as the velvet fabric on a blazer or a dress. Take his track Orion Dj Set Mystical Journey 30122014 for instance, which gave me the feeling of chillin’ on a bench, enjoying the cool summer day. With his skills as a producer, the music he creates comes across in a different light. It’s more clean and clear-cut than most due to the time that he must take during production, making sure his sound relays the hard work and dedication that he puts in at all hours of the day.
If you are a fan of the electronic genre, Djorion is your artist to listen.
